Be A Boss

While women earn most of the university degrees, Men in leadership roles outnumber women in many industry sectors, and the numbers are even worse for women of color. In government, US State Legislators are 75% Men and 25% women and sadly only 5% are women of color.

“Be a Boss” community project will inspire and mentor young women of color in junior & high schools. The project seeks to help future leaders learn the power principals of self-respect, self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence., the benefits of higher education, career paths and hear stories about successful women leaders(BOSSES).

  • Postsecondary education is an option that can lead individuals and their families out of poverty.

  • Adults with higher levels of education are more likely to engage in organized volunteer work, to understand political issues, and to vote.

  • They are also more likely to live healthy lifestyles - they earn more and have better access to health care; college-educated adults smoke less, exercise more, and have lower obesity rates.
